Course Description
This course is a survey of musical theater from the mid 19th century to present day. Emphasis is placed on the stylistic distinctions of the musical and the contribution of individual composers, librettists, lyricists, choreographers, directors and designers to the genre of musical theater. Students have the opportunity to study the genre鈥檚 social and cultural significance as a separate and distinctive art form.
